Plastic ban in Japan
At the cabinet meeting, the Japanese government finalized the new bill "Plastic Resource Recycling Promotion Bill" aimed at strengthening the recycling and emission reduction of plastic waste.
At the cabinet meeting, the Japanese government has finalized the new bill "Plastic Resources Recycling Promotion Act", which aims to strengthen the recycling and emission reduction of plastic waste. Among them, the new bill introduces a mechanism to uniformly recycle household food trays, stationery, etc. as "plastic resources". For catering stores that provide a large number of disposable straws and spoons, it is required to formulate reduction measures by adjusting the provision methods. The charging of plastic shopping bags in Japan last year has played a certain role in reducing plastic waste, and relevant measures will continue to be strengthened in the future.
According to Kyodo News Agency, local governments in Japan currently focus on plastic waste generated by families, such as plastic bottles and food trays, for recycling. The new bill urges local governments to recycle plastic waste, including stationery and children's toys.
For catering stores that provide a large number of disposable straws and spoons, the new law stipulates that stores have the obligation to reduce disposable plastic products, and require certain measures such as charging, using alternative materials, and asking customers whether to use them. Those who fail to take measures will be advised or ordered to improve. If they still fail to comply, they will be fined less than 500000 yen (about 30000 yuan).
In addition, the Japanese government will also establish an environmental protection commodity identification system and logo. For those identified as environmental protection commodities, the central government will take the lead in purchasing them, while the certification logo is convenient for consumers to purchase.
It is understood that the plastic waste produced in Japan exceeds 8 million tons every year, and the environmental pollution caused by the discharge into the sea is also becoming increasingly serious. The Japanese government will quickly take countermeasures by introducing new systems.
