USA bans single-use plastics
Los Angeles isn't the only city to pass a single-use plastic ban. The City of Sausalito approved the ban on June 11, 2019. The ban prohibits the use of single-use plastic items such as straws, containers, bags, cutlery, etc. in restaurants and encourages the use of non-plastic alternatives.
Several cities and counties have implemented plastic straw bans in states without legislation, such as Miami Beach, South Carolina, Charleston, and many cities in California, the District of Columbia, and Florida. Additionally, in addition to Los Angeles, more than 100 municipalities and cities, including New York City, Seattle, Miami Beach, and San Diego, have banned expanded polystyrene.
