South Australia Expands Single-Use Plastic Ban in Latest Environmental Push
The Government of South Australia has introduced a new phase of its single-use plastic ban, effective 1 September 2024. The ban now includes items such as plastic bags, polystyrene containers, and plastic confetti. Further restrictions will take effect on 1 September 2025, targeting non-compostable fruit and vegetable stickers, soy sauce fish containers, and straws and cutlery attached to food items. This move is part of SA's ongoing efforts to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainable packaging solutions. Other Australian states, including Western Australia, are also implementing similar bans.
