Plastic ban in Britain
Britain will ban disposable plastic tableware, and Europe will ban hotels from providing small bottles of bath products. Britain will ban disposable plastic tableware.
The British government will ban the use of disposable plastic tableware, and biodegradable products will take its place.
At present, the UK has banned the use of some disposable plastic products, including straws, mixers and cotton swabs. However, the UK government is "determined to go further and faster to reduce, reuse and recycle more resources" to solve the growing problem of plastic waste in the UK and the world. It is reported that British Environment Secretary Theresa Coffey will announce the plan in the next few weeks.
The government said that Britain uses 1.1 billion disposable plates and 4.25 billion tableware every year, equivalent to 20 plates and 75 tableware per person. The government said in the consultation document that only 10% of the huge plastic "garbage mountain" was finally recycled, and added that plastic tableware was one of the largest categories of waste in Britain among the 15 kinds.
Research shows that it is effective to limit the use of plastic products. A report released in 2018 shows that the number of discarded plastic bags under the sea in the UK has decreased significantly after the implementation of the ban on free plastic bags in the UK.
